
The Unesa lecturer team provides education on the importance of nutrition and physical activity to students to prevent overweight or obesity.
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA–Obesity is a health problem and must be a concern. Why not, the obesity rate in Indonesia has tended to increase in the last decade. Based on Basic Health Research Data, 1 in 3 people are obese.
Furthermore, at an early age, 1 in 5 children is overweight. The prevalence of obesity in Indonesia is quite high, especially among teenagers. To overcome this problem, the population target in 2024 is 21.8%. To achieve this, effective and effective nutrition and physical activity programs must be implemented.
That is what the lecturer team at Surabaya State University (Unesa) consisting of dr. Nur Shanti Retno Pembayun; Dr. Rizky Patria Nevangga; and Nur Salsabila Rhesa Pandhadha Putra. The lecturer team carries out nutrition and physical activity training to prevent obesity among young people.
Doctor Nur Shanti said, this program aims to improve children's health by meeting their nutritional needs, promoting healthy eating habits, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, reducing the risk of obesity, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Type 2 diabetes itself is a chronic disease whose signs can be seen from high blood sugar levels. This disease is also known as diabetes mellitus or DM. This type of diabetes occurs when the body does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin properly.
“The main aim of this program is to improve the health of Indonesian youth aged between 15 and 24 years, ensuring that they have access to quality education and a healthy lifestyle,” he said.
This program will also contribute to the development of a healthy and productive generation of Indonesians. The main goals of this program are to reduce the prevalence of obesity among adolescents, promote healthy eating habits, and reduce the risk of developing diabetes.[*]
