
Unesa leadership held a meeting to develop study programs and infrastructure for Campus 5 Magetan, as part of a commitment to bring closer access to quality higher education for regional children, according to regional needs and potential, and harmonization with the sustainability of other universities.
Unesa.ac.id. MAGETAN–Access to higher education is still a challenge. Good collaboration is needed between state and private universities to jointly open access to quality education, especially for children in the regions.
For this reason, Surabaya State University (Unesa) is preparing five new study programs for Unesa Campus 5 Magetan. This was discussed at the leadership meeting (rapim) which took place at Campus 5 Magetan, Monday, January 6 2025.
Chancellor Unesa , Nurhasan or Cak Hasan emphasized that the addition of new study programs at Campus 5 Magetan is based on a number of studies on the needs and potential that exist in the Magetan area and its surroundings.
“Not all children in the surrounding Magetan area have the funds to study abroad outside the area and city. "That's why we are here with a number of study programs in Magetan to bring access to education closer to them," said Cak Hasan.
The professor of sports science said that the addition of new study programs was carried out with a wise approach, paying attention to community needs, and was harmonization with other universities.
“We harmonize this decision with the sustainability of private universities in the local area. "Collaboration is the key to building a mutually supportive educational ecosystem," he stressed.
Head of the Sub-directorate of Admissions or Acceptance and Graduation of Unesa Students, Sukarmin added, the five study programs added at Campus 5 Magetan consist of; Bachelor of Education in Indonesian Language and Literature, Bachelor of Education Sports Coaching, Bachelor's Degree in Guidance and Counselling, Bachelor's Degree in Educational Technology, and Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education Teacher Education.
“The five study programs are currently being assessed "The study program has been completed smoothly, while the other three study programs are currently in the field assessment process," said the Magetan-born lecturer.
After the assessment is complete, Unesa will wait for the results of the assessment to obtain minimum accreditation from the Independent Education Accreditation Institute (Lamdik ). After this process, the new study program is then submitted for the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) 2025.
In addition to adding study programs, neatm it also discusses other strategic steps such as the construction of supporting facilities such as mosques, health polyclinics, and the development of Student Activity Units (UKM) to support student interests and talents at Campus 5 Magetan.
Apart from that, it is also planning to establish a labschool in Magetan as part of Unesa's commitment to creating a quality, tiered and sustainable educational ecosystem in Magetan and its surroundings.
The meeting and opening of the nutritious breakfast program at Campus 5 Magetan was attended by the Board of Trustees (MWA), the University Academic Senate (SAU ), chancellor and deputy chancellor, PSDKU Directorate or Campus 5 Magetan, directors and related work units.[*]
