UNESA team visit at MSTP Undip
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—In order to strengthen institutional governance, the Subdirectorate of Innovation Development, Directorate of Innovation Rankings and Scientific Publications conducted benchmarking at the MSTP of Diponegoro University (Undip), on June 26 2024.
Prof. Dr. Endang Susantini, Head of Sub-Directorate for Innovation and PUI Development and his team were welcomed directly by Ridhuwan S.Si., M.Si. as MSTP supervisor at Diponegoro University.
On that occasion, the UNESA team gained a lot of knowledge regarding STP management, and research that had been developed at MSTP Jepara.
The success of MSTP is measured when the STP can finance itself, there is collaboration between universities, industry and government, it succeeds in becoming a business incubation for young professionals and students and also functions as a teaching factory.
The Undip MSTP was not easily built, the MSTP was established by the government in 1994 and developed in 1995, then the MSTP faded, went dormant and revived again in 2017.
The established MSTP in Teluk Awur Jepara, it was built on a land area of 52 Ha and a coastline length of 2 KM.
This MSTP has developed rapidly until now with various achievements, including having an indoor round pond shrimp pond as a result of a Rispro LPDP research grant worth almost 13 billion, an outdoor square pond shrimp pond, and having milkfish and sea bass ponds .
More than 7 tonnes of Vaname shrimp were successfully harvested from 8 box ponds which are the first generation of ponds created by innovation from Diponegoro University.
Another product MSTP is proud of is creating hybrid solar-powered desalination technology to overcome the scarcity of clean water in coastal areas.
This technology can convert brackish water into clean drinking water. The desalinated water is the result of collaboration between the Chair of MSTP, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Widiasa with Australian National University.
The lesson that can be learned from the Undip MSTP is that managing STP is not easy but that does not mean it is impossible. "We can make this happen by continuing to learn, try and work hard," said Prof. Endang Susantini.
