unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA—Deputy Regent of Gresik, Dra. Aminatun Habibah, M.Pd, succeeded in obtaining a doctorate in the Education Technology (TP) study program, Faculty of Education (FIP), Surabaya State University (UNESA) after undergoing an open examination at the Auditorium, 11th floor, Rectorate, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Tuesday , May 14 2024.
In the determination session, Aminatun Habibah or who is familiarly called Mrs. Min explained her dissertation on "Development of the Amlaba Learning Model in Increasing Independence and Learning Outcomes in Reading the Al-Qur'an for Deaf People with Disabilities" in front of the promoter and examiners.
The research was conducted at the UPT Resource Center Gresik as one of the Al-Qur'an learning places or TPA which teaches reading the Al-Qur'an to deaf people in Gresik. This research is based on conditions where people with hearing impairments, especially in Gresik, still do not receive suitable Al-Qur'an learning methods.

“Conventional learning methods cannot "It was immediately used for people with disabilities, that's why I developed this Amlaba learning model since 2022. My research shows that this model can increase the independence and learning outcomes of reading the Al-Qur'an for children there," he explained.
After going through a somewhat tough presentation, question and answer and discussion session, Ms. Min successfully defended her dissertation and was declared entitled to hold the 115th doctoral title in the UNESA Educational Technology (TP) PhD study program with a GPA of 3.97.This open exam presents a board of examiners consisting of Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., (Chancellor of UNESA), Prof. Dr. Mochamad Nursalim, M.Sc., (Dean of FIP), Prof. Dr. Mustaji, M.Pd., (TP Coordinator of S-3 Study Program), Dr. Andi Mariono, M.Pd (TP Masters-2 Study Program Coordinator), Dr. Bachtiar S. Bachri, M.Pd., (FIP lecturer and Deputy Chancellor for Division II UNESA), Dr. Andi Kristanto, M.Pd., (Deputy Dean of FIP), and Dr. Fajar Arianto, S.Pd., M.Pd., (TP lecturer). Also present was an external examiner from UM, Prof. Dr. Punaji Setyosari, M.Ed.
After the exam, Mrs. Min expressed her gratitude for the support given by her family, UNESA leaders and lecturers, friends, and all parties who have helped her in her academic journey. "I hope that the results of this research can make a real contribution and can be implemented directly, especially in Gresik," he said enthusiastically.

Mrs Min's success received a lot of appreciation from various parties. In fact, the Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani, the Regional Secretary of Gresik Regency Achmad Washil, as well as the heads of OPD and sub-district heads were also present to provide support.
"I salute you, even though you are busy with activities, being able to complete your doctoral studies is extraordinary. Ms. Min's research can become the basis for the regent's regulations regarding reading and writing the Koran, so that its implementation can help learning for everyone children with disabilities," said the Regent of Gresik, Fandi Akhmad Yani.
The Regent, who is familiarly known as Gus Yani, emphasized that pursuing education or learning does not recognize age or position as part of life itself staff to follow Ms. Min's example in upgrading their knowledge. This is because in terms of the population, the percentage of those who have obtained master's and doctoral degrees is very small.[]
