UNESA Deputy Chancellor IV attended the opening of the exhibition and reviewed various works by DKV students.
Unesa. ac.id., SURABAYA—Class of 2023 students, Bachelor of Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) Surabaya State University (UNESA) held a UAS exhibition entitled "Final Exam Exhibition" at FBS UNESA. This exhibition displays innovative works in the field of typography and photography which managed to amaze visitors for two days, 13-14 June 2024.
One of the main attractions of this exhibition are environmental typography works which have minimum height 140 cm. The concept of environmental typography was inspired by the experience of Meirina Lani Pangganguspa, S.Sn., M.Sn., lecturer in the Typography course, while studying at ISI in the typography course.
He wants to revive the existence of typography which is starting to lose its popularity by utilizing environmental typography for city branding. Meirina hopes that this typography will not only function as a marker, but will also be able to respond to the environment and help brand a city.
"There are lots of environmental typography used on the street, but I want the typography to respond to the environment , not only as a marker but also for city branding," said Meirina.
This exhibition was opened by the Deputy Chancellor IV for Planning, Development, Cooperation and Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Martadi, M.Sn., who gave high appreciation to the students' works. "DKV's existence will never end, it is incredibly open to a career in the era of creative industries and visual culture.
Challenging yourself and soft skills are very important. I am proud of all of you who are studying even though it is difficult, because "With difficulties we can become strong individuals," said Martadi in his speech.
