Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—The Confucius Institute UNESA paid a visit to the UNESA Labschool Vocational School on June 5 2024. This visit was carried out in connection with the initiation of cooperation between the two institutions in bridging the needs of vocational education with the industrial world.
Director of CI UNESA, Sueb, M.Pd ., said that they planned to implement an after-school program (course) for Labschool Vocational School students and teachers. He hopes that when this program is implemented, students and teachers will be able to increase their competency, culture and experience in Mandarin.
Apart from that, the program, which is planned to be implemented in the new academic year 2024/2025, will also increase opportunities for students to continue careers in the international industrial sector, especially companies from China.
This after-school program can also strengthen Mandarin language competency for UNESA Labschool Vocational School teachers.
Vocational School Principal Labschool and Head of the Academic and Student Center for the UNESA Laboratory School Development Agency, Dian Widyastuti, S.Pd. and Dimas Avian Maulana, M.Si. welcomed the initiation of this CI collaboration.
During the visit which was also attended by the Director of CI China, Yang Yuan, Dian said that her party would start mapping for interested students as an initial stage.
"If many students are interested, we also hope that it can become a mandatory program in schools. Which will later be a provision for them to have a career in international companies, especially China," he concluded.[]
