Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–The Executive Board of the Indonesian Petanque Sports Federation (PB FOPI) has a new captain from campus circles. He is Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., who was officially elected as General Chair of PB FOPI with a term of service 2023-2027.
The inauguration and inauguration of the general chairman and board of PB FOPI was led directly by the General Chair of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI ) Center, Lt. Gen. TNI Retired Marciano Norman at the Rectorate Auditorium, Lidah Wetan Campus, Surabaya, Thursday (02/11/2023).
The inauguration procession of the new management was filled with academics from various campuses, including UNESA. also witnessed by M. Nabil, Chairman of KONI East Java and the leadership of UNESA.
General Chairman of KONI, Lt. Gen. TNI Purn Marciano Norman said that the inclusion of professors or professors in the management of PB FOPI for the 2023-2027 period is expected to encourage the rapid development of petanque sports in universities.
The sport of petanque has really become a sport that is loved by students and has also become a superior sport. In Indonesia's participation, both in international single events and international multi-events, petanque can be a medal contributor alongside other sports.

According to him, one strategy to improve Indonesia's achievements in international multi-events is not only to compete in sports such as football, for example, but also to maximize sports such as petanque to encourage Indonesia's ranking to rise further and faster.
"Prof Nurhasan (Chancellor of UNESA; ed.) I give the highest appreciation and appreciation from UNESA, petanque will go down in history. Petanque will be one of the sports that really makes us all amazed and proud because of his achievements," said the General Chairman of KONI.
He hopes that, after the National Working Meeting, the administrators will return to their respective campuses to start socializing petanque from campus to campus for the administrators. From not knowing to knowing, from not having a field to having a special petanque field.
"A new sport like this, the socialization must be great, it must provide opportunities for young children to get to know petanque and organize petanque events for middle school, high school, even introduction to elementary school children. I am sure that the existence of this academic will make "petanque has become a successful sport," said Marciano Norman.

Meanwhile, Chairman of PB FOPI Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, M.Kes., expressed his gratitude to all parties for the mandate given to lead PB FOPI. This is a motivation for him to promote petanque, which is relatively new in Indonesia.
There are several things that the management needs to intensify in the future, including socialization and introducing petanque to all groups, so that this sport is liked by the public. This is important, because that is where interest and reliable talent can emerge.
Apart from that, it also designs a formula or strategy for the future development of petanque sports. Therefore, after this activity, recommendations can be formulated regarding the strategic issue of developing the sport of petanque.
Some things need to be intensified, such as increasing petanque events from an early age, building networks and partnerships, protection and appreciation for athletes, management of sports matches, use of sports sciences, and various other strategic issues.
"I am sure that these various thoughts will be a contribution from PB FOPI and Pengprov FOPI to lay the foundations for developing the sport of petanque in Indonesia. This also supports the priority program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the development of superior human resources," said Cak Hasan. []
