The Director of Student and Alumni Affairs at UNESA provided guidance and reinforcement during the release of students who will carry out community service in Tuban.
Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—The leadership of Surabaya State University (UNESA) released 40 students to carry out community service activities initiated by the UNESA Student Executive Board (BEM-U) on Monday, 24 June 2024 in the Rectorate Lobby, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, Surabaya.
The service with the theme "Cakrabuana UNESA: Uniting Hope Towards a Prosperous Agrotourism Village" involves students consisting of BEM members and students from the UNESA class of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Chairman of BEM UNESA, Sutrisno said, the service program which is part of the implementation of the tridharma of higher education is targeting locations in Kebonharjo village, Jatirogo District, Tuban Regency.
"The hope is that after graduating, students will be able to take part in society and make moral changes "good (agent of change)," he said.
He added that the University BEM had conducted research and coordinated with certain agencies for the previous 1 to 2 months. It turned out that there were several problems in Kebonharjo village.
The team promotes several programs to solve problems in the village, namely 1) education programs; 2) MSME and cooperative mentoring programs; 3) environmental and health care programs; and , 4) agricultural and plantation programs.
In the education program, volunteers will provide free tutoring for village children, one of which will be a 'Character Education' seminar.
Then in the agricultural program, his team has prepared corn and rice seeds that are ready to be planted, while in the plantation program, his team has prepared 100 avocado and jackfruit seedlings for tree planting activities.
Director of Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. M.Pd., fully supports this activity. He said that students or volunteers who are part of this community service can implement the knowledge they gain on campus to be applied to society "In the future, students can become great and strong leaders, and their work can be felt by society," he said.
Not only that, his party is also trying to convert the community service program carried out by students to Independent Study in the upcoming Independent Learning Campus (MBKM) program.[]
