Accompanied by their supervisor, FIP UNESA students depart for the International PLP program in Thailand
Unesa.ac.id. SURABAYA—A total of 17 students from the Faculty of Education (FIP) Surabaya State University (UNESA) took part in the Introduction to Schooling Field (PLP) program in Songkhla, Thailand, which took place from 29 July to 1 October 2024.
This program aims to provide practical experience to students in an international education environment, increase professional competence, and broaden international cultural insight.
Kartika Rinakit Adhe, Coordinator of the Undergraduate Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program (PG PAUD), said that The aim of this international PLP is to provide students with the opportunity to hone their teaching skills in a global environment.
"This PLP provides an opportunity for them to interact with students from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds," he explained.< /p>
He added that this program has been running since 2021 as a form of collaboration between FIP and the Education Department in Songkhla, which aims to prepare human resources who are broad-minded, resilient and globally competitive.
During the program, students will not only practice teaching, but will also be involved in various community activities in the Songkhla area.
Involvement in these local activities is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the culture and education system in Thailand, and strengthen their adaptability and social interaction skills.
Students will interact directly with students, parents and local communities, all of whom have different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, so that they can learn to overcome challenges that arise in a global context.
The PLP program in Songkhla involves seven locations selected based on existing collaboration between the Songkhla Education Department and these schools.
These locations include Padang Besar Thai Municipality; Tessaban 1 Bansadao, Sadao district Songkhla Thailand; Tessaban 2 Bansadao, Sadao district Songkhla Thailand;
Next, Kaewboutku School, Padangbesar Songkhla; Tessaban Thambon Natawee, Natawee District Songkhla; Watnamom School, Namom District Songkhla; and NamomWatnamom School, Namom District Songkhla Thailand.
Through this PLP, students are expected to develop teaching skills, strengthen their understanding of the global education system, and prepare themselves to become competent and knowledgeable educators.
"The hope is that PG PAUD students can hone their teaching skills in Thailand so that they can become graduates who have global competitiveness," he stressed.
This program can provide valuable experience and in-depth knowledge for students , as well as strengthening cooperation between UNESA and educational institutions in Thailand.[]
