Unesa. ac.id, SURABAYA—The 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was celebrated by all levels of society in various activities, including children with disabilities at the ULABK Building (Special Needs Children's Services Unit), Surabaya State University (UNESA), Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, on Friday, August 16 2024.
The children, accompanied by their parents, took part in various competitions, ranging from freedom racing competitions, crawling competitions to pick up balls, putting flags in jars, to crafts . The competition is specifically designed to hone skills and strengthen relationships between children.
"The competition activities are designed with the aim of training various aspects of children's development, including children's focus, sensory, motor and cognitive abilities," said Diah Anggraeny, Head of ULABK UNESA.
Apart from that, he continued, this activity is also to strengthen the bond between parents and children. "Each competition not only challenges children's skills, but also promotes interactions that support strong emotional relationships between families," he said.

Parents were present to join in the excitement of their children in the August competition held by ULABK UNESA.
Activity titled This "Flaming Independence Competition" is part of UNESA's commitment to supporting the inclusion and welfare of children with special needs, as well as educating the public about the importance of family participation in children's development.
Sani, the competition committee, said that this activity could be a reference for parents in guiding their children with simple materials and tools at home, but still fun and meaningful.
"There is no need to use expensive tools and materials to be able to train children's motor skills and accuracy at home, simple things are enough like what we provide in these competitions," said the student and therapist at ULABK
